Castle Provincial Park and Castle Wildland Provincial Park Draft Management Plan Survey

Since consultation commenced on January 20th, 2017 on the draft Management Plan for the newly created Castle Provincial Park and the Castle Wildland Provincial Park, the Government of Alberta has heard from thousands of Albertans about the importance of the Castle Provincial Park and Castle Wildland Provincial Park.

Valuable feedback has been received, as such, Alberta Parks has developed a revised draft Management Plan to address some of the concerns and suggestions that have been shared. The draft plan sets out objectives and strategies for management of the parks over a 10-year period.

The consultation period has now been extended for an additional 30-days until April 19th, 2017 and a new survey has been created to gather feedback on this revised draft plan.

The primary purposes of Castle Provincial Park and Castle Wildland Provincial Park are to ensure:

  1. conservation of nature
  2. respect of Indigenous rights
  3. provision of recreation and tourism experiences.

All management decisions will be consistent with the protection of:

  1. biodiversity
  2. water resources
  3. ecological integrity and connectivity (page 4)

The vision of the “Castle Provincial Park and Castle Wildland Provincial Park are managed as world-class protected places, employing high standards in conservation, respecting Indigenous rights, and providing sites and facilities for exceptional recreational experiences.”

The following questions will help the Government of Alberta understand your level of support for the strategies outlined in the revised draft management plan and inform the Government of Alberta in the finalization of the draft management plan for both Castle Provincial Park and Castle Wildland Provincial Park.
